Lil Pump
Gazzy García, known professionally through his stage name Lil Pump is an is an American rapper that grew popularity as part of the SoundCloud rap scene. He style of minimalist music and over-the-top public persona has drawn attention from his fans. His controversial portrayal of marijuana and Xanax use has drawn public attention. In 2022, Lil Pump was taken back in Japan when no one recognized him the streets. Apparently his fame is quite limited to the US and a very specific niche audience in his generation.
In 2017, his song “Gucci Gang” peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified five-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. His debut album released later that year, Lil Pump (2017), peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard 200. He has since released the singles “I Love It” (with Kanye West), “Esskeetit”, “Drug Addicts”, “Butterfly Doors”, “Racks on Racks”, “Be Like Me” (featuring Lil Wayne), and “Welcome to the Party” from the Deadpool 2 soundtrack.
