Justin Sutherland
Justin Sutherland is an American chef, restaurateur, and television personality based in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is widely known for his breakout roles on popular culinary shows such as “Iron Chef America,” “Top Chef,” and “Chopped.” Sutherland has earned a reputation as one of the most talented chefs in the industry, with a unique ability to fuse global flavors and techniques with his Midwestern roots.
Sutherland’s passion for cooking began at a young age, inspired by his grandmother’s traditional recipes and his family’s love of food. After studying culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu, he worked in some of the most prestigious kitchens in the country, including the historic French Laundry in California and the Michelin-starred Aquavit in New York City.
One of the milestones in Sutherland’s career was his appearance on the Food Network’s “Iron Chef America” in 2018. He competed against Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli in a battle featuring the secret ingredient of goat, earning high praise from the judges for his creative use of spices and seasonings. Sutherland has also been a recurring guest judge on “Top Chef,” a popular cooking competition show that features some of the best chefs in the world.
Sutherland has collaborated with a number of other notable chefs and celebrities throughout his career. He has worked with award-winning chefs such as Gavin Kaysen and Marcus Samuelsson, as well as celebrities like Questlove and Chrissy Teigen. In 2019, he partnered with rapper and entrepreneur Bun B to open his latest restaurant concept, “The Handsome Hog,” which specializes in Southern-inspired cuisine.
