Meet Jolene, the Canine Stand-in for Superman’s Dog Krypto

James Gunn’s hit reboot Superman with David Crenswet is already a blockbuster hit after its first weekend in theaters. And for plenty of fans, Superman’s super dog, Krypto, managed to steal the show. James Gunn recently revealed that the CGI Krypto was inspired by and modeled after his rescue pup Ozu.

But while filming on set with human actors, a real canine actor was brought in as Krypto’s stand-in, named Jolene.

On Krypto’s Instagram profile, she’s described as an actor, agility junkie, trickstar, and trash panda. (And she just needs to add “celebrity pet” to complete her bio)

Whenever Jolene graced the set with her presence, the crew would play the Dolly Parton song she was named after.

Also David Corenswet recently shared a video of his IRL pup, Ira, joining him on the set of Superman.
