Fishtopher: From Depressed Shelter Cat to a Happy Feline Influencer and Advocate

Fishtopher the Cat led a long, hard life on the streets for five years nd you could truly see it reflected in his sad face. Then in 2022, he was brought into the Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center

But the gentle tabby wasn’t happy at the shelter either, who described Fishtopher in his Petfinder profile as, “…not a fish out of water, but he is out of sorts at the shelter. He is very sad and depressed and will only eat when he has company.” That was until someone saw his adorably sad face and equally sad profile and tweeted it demanding someone adopt him…

Then the tweet immediately went viral with over 20k retweets and over 150k likes – And Fishtopher was adopted in just two days!

And from his new big smile and bright eyes, he clearly loves his new forever home.

And no Fishtopher didn’t take Ozempic to lose his chubby cheeks. His fat cheeks naturally grow from testosterone as a result of being an unneutered tom cat, which helps them in fights with other tom cats. They have deflated overtime after being neutered.

While Fishtopher is happy and healthy now, he also has FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus.) So as an influencer, he does his part to raise awareness of the virus and educate cat parents about it. Please watch the video below for a great summary of FIV.

And besides a loving human family, Fishtopher also fell in love with his feline roommate.

And several Instagram posts of the happy couple have also gone viral.

Fishtopher and his partner also use their platform to raise funds for the shelters that rescued them, such as selling super cute cartoon merch.
