Actress and rescue dog mom Dakota Johnson is currently doing the rounds to promote Materialists, her new romcom that also stars Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. A recent stop was an appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang Podcast, where she first revealed her newly adopted puppy named Tokyo!

Dakota let Amy know the puppy was rescued by the Santa Barbara Humane Society in California and was a spur-of-the-moment adoption, saying, “We rescued her on Saturday from the Santa Barbara pound. I didn’t plan on it.” This follows the passing of Zepplin, her 17-year-old rescue Jack Russel-Schnauzer mix, in December of last year. “I thought, ‘It’s gonna be a while, but then I saw her, and she’s an angel.”
Tokyo confidently taking to the spotlight was new to Dakota, who said, “Honestly, she has come alive on camera. She normally hides in the back of her crate. She’s really timid. And now she’s like, ‘Here I am!'” She then declared to Tokyo, “You’re an actress just like your mom!” You can watch the full podcast episode below:
