BLACKPINK’s Rosé Admits Her Rescue Dog Is Named After Tom Hanks

In yesterday’s Hot Ones interview, BLACKPINK member and K-pop star Rosé shared info on her current rescue dog, Hank, and her childhood dog, Toby. The highlight being she admitted for the first time that her dog Hank is actually named after America’s dad and Oscar-winning actor, Tom Hanks.

First Hot Ones host Sean Evans mentions his dog growing up was named Dave as a segue into talking about how they give their dogs very human names. Rosé starts by mentioning her first dog also had a standard human name: Toby.

Evans then asks about the origin of Hank’s name, with Rosé sharing for the first time that the rescue pup is named after Tom Hanks – Which we’d assume pretty much most of her millions of fans (or Hank’s 4.8 million Instagram followers) would have never guessed. The proud dog mom said, “Hank was named after Tom Hanks. If you look at my dog, for some reason, he just looks like a Hank. He’s chic. When I go home, I’m like, ‘Hey, I miss you,’ and he’s very like, ‘Cool. It’s good to see you.’ We’re a good match because I’m very needy… we definitely balance each other out. Perfect combo, in my opinion. I hope he feels the same.”

Later in the interview, Rosé is about to eat the final chicken wing… But she takes a pause and declares, “I feel like I have to make a speech because this is going to kill me,” and then looks directly at the camera for her pup watching at home, “Hank, I love you so much. I hope I can survive this, but if I don’t ever see you again, I love you.” The emotions of the moment were heightened by a melancholy piano instrumental and a fade-in of her precious pup.

In case you don’t watch the whole interview, Rosé does survive and will return to Hank who is staying with her parents. And if you’re not familiar with Hank, he was originally named Mir and was found with severe malnutrition and skin disease after being abandoned by his owner. He spent two months in the hospital recovering before he was adopted by Rosé in December 2020.
