After Regular Visits to Snuggle Shelter Cats, Charlie Hunnam Took Two Kittens Home!

From Sons of Anarchy to Sons of SnugglesCharlie Hunnam, known for being a tough guy on-screen, is clearly a softie IRL and a proud cat dad. Known to adopt cats in the past, he just adopted two adorable rescue kittens named Sugar Plum and Gingerbread.

Hunnam, while filming the latest installment of Monster in Illinois, would take breaks from all the serial killer prep with frequent visits to River Valley Animal Rescue. And clearly, those little furballs worked their magic.

Hunnam would stop by the rescue for kitty snuggle sessions, with the rescue staff mentioning he was genuinely affectionate with all the cats. But ultimately, Sugar Plum and Gingerbread were the lucky ones who snagged a one-way ticket to Hollywood. And Charlie is also lucky, since after embodying a monster all day, the cats will provide him with some therapeutic relief via purrs and cuddles.

After weeks of filming in our little town of Momence, Charlie Hunnam took every chance between takes to shower the cats at Oasis with love. Just like everyone who steps through our doors, he soaked up all the affection they had to give. He was a great sport about letting them climb all over him, snapped countless pictures, and even took the opportunity to FaceTime his lady to show off his favorites.

But from the very beginning, two special sisters stole his heart: Sugar Plum and Gingerbread. And then came the words we never expected… I think I would love to adopt. And that’s exactly what Charlie did.

Who would have thought that our two little ladies—once unwanted and homeless in a small town—would end up flying off to a life of luxury in Los Angeles?

Charlie, thank you for giving these precious kittens the incredible life they deserve. We not only loved having you visit time and time again, but seeing the genuine affection you had for each and every cat was absolutely priceless.

We’re honored to officially welcome you to the RVAR family!

And this just goes to show… No matter who you are, getting two kittens to sit still long enough for an adoption photo is nearly impossible—even for this experienced CAT DAD!
