Adopting pets has always been a part of Mandy Moore’s life, but with all those years of love comes the eventual sad goodbye. And then after over 14 years in her family, Moore had to say goodbye to her rescue dog, Jackson.
Moore posted a large gallery of memories of the beloved fur family member on Instagram, along with a caption thanking him for 14+ years. She noted his excellent work as a guard dog, even though he wasn’t hired for that job. Several celebrity pet parents gave their condolences in the comments, including Seth Rogen’s wife Lauren saying, “So very sorry. What a beautiful soul. Sending love.” and Minka Kelly saying, “Oh Mand… I’m so sorry. He was the luckiest to have you as his mama. What a beautiful life you gave him. Sending so much love.”
She mentions him getting to play with her late pup, Joni, who passed away in December 2020 at the age of 13.
Jackson was a survivor, who recovered after having surgery to remove his spleen and a 6 lbs mass from his abdomen in 2021. And this followed needing lifesaving surgery after eating a tennis ball in 2019.
She also posted an Instagram story of her other rescue dog, Marshmallow, looking around for his missing big brother.
