Zoe Wees
Zoe Wees is a German singer and songwriter, known for her emotionally charged and powerful vocal performances. Born in Hamburg, Germany, she rose to prominence with her debut single “Control,” which charted in several countries, including reaching number one in France (SNEP Radio) and the top ten in Belgium.
Growing up in Hamburg, Wees lived with benign rolandic epilepsy (BRE), which significantly influenced her music and lyrics, reflecting themes of exclusion, helplessness, and loss of control. She began writing music in English during her childhood and started working on music as a teenager. Wees gained initial recognition in 2017 after participating in the fifth season of “The Voice Kids” in Germany. Her debut album, “DeAnn,” released in 2019, was dedicated to her late mother and recorded with friends in a Florida Airbnb. This was followed by her second album, “Elisabeth,” released in 2020, and recorded in a repurposed barn.
Wees’ career has been marked by significant collaborations and achievements. Her debut EP “Golden Wings,” released in 2021, included the single “Ghost,” co-written with Ricardo Muñoz Repko, VVAVES, Nicolas Rebscher, and Patrick Salmy. Influenced by artists like Jessie J and Lewis Capaldi, Wees describes her genre as pop. Her collaboration with Norwegian DJ and producer Kygo on the song “Love Me Now” further showcased her work across borders.
