Charlotte Gainsbourg
Charlotte Gainsbourg is a French actress, singer, and songwriter. One of Gainsbourg’s breakout roles was in the 1984 film “Paroles et musique,” in which she starred opposite her father, French singer and songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. She went on to appear in several other films, including “The Little Thief” (1988), “Jane Eyre” (1996), and “The Science of Sleep” (2006). In 2009, she won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in “Antichrist,” directed by Lars von Trier.
She appeared in the 2007 film “I’m Not There,” which was directed by Todd Haynes and featured an ensemble cast that included Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, and Cate Blanchett. She also worked with von Trier again in 2011’s “Melancholia,” alongside Kirsten Dunst and Alexander Skarsgård. Gainsbourg has also appeared in several films directed by French filmmaker Arnaud Desplechin, including “My Golden Days” (2015) and “Ismael’s Ghosts” (2017).
One of Gainsbourg’s most notable collaborations was with the British musician Beck, who produced her 2006 album “5:55.” The album was a critical and commercial success, and cemented Gainsbourg’s status as a talented and versatile artist. She has also worked with other prominent musicians, including French singer and songwriter Benjamin Biolay, who produced her 2011 album “Stage Whisper.”
In addition to her work in entertainment, Gainsbourg has been involved with several animal non-profit organizations, including the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and the World Society for the Protection of Animals. Gainsbourg has also supported the fight against climate change, and has participated in several events and campaigns to raise awareness about the issue.
