Charlie Wilson
Charlie Wilson is an American singer, songwriter, producer, and the former lead vocalist for the Gap Band. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wilson’s career with the Gap Band helped to shape the sound of R&B and funk music in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like “Outstanding,” “Yearning for Your Love,” and “Burn Rubber on Me (Why You Wanna Hurt Me).” As a solo artist, Wilson has received critical acclaim, including 13 Grammy Award nominations, and has scored numerous No. 1 hits on the Billboard R&B chart. His solo albums, such as “Charlie, Last Name Wilson” (2005), “Uncle Charlie” (2009), and “Love, Charlie” (2013).
