Bang Chan, known globally as the charismatic leader of South Korean boy group Stray Kids, has left an indelible mark on the world of K-pop through his musical talents and leadership qualities. Born in Sydney, Australia, he has utilized his multicultural background and immense skill to carve out a unique niche in the industry, simultaneously pushing the boundaries of traditional K-pop while staying true to its essence.

Stray Kids’ debut extended play (EP), ‘Mixtape,’ provided Bang Chan an initial platform to showcase his diverse talents as a rapper, vocalist, and producer. As the group progressed, he took on the mantle of lead producer for Stray Kids, a role that went on to define much of the group’s signature sound. Their first studio album, ‘Go Live,’ truly thrust Chan and the group into the international limelight, with hits like ‘God’s Menu’ becoming a global sensation. From then on, Stray Kids and Bang Chan have been synonymous with a bold, experimental style that consistently challenges the status quo of K-pop.

Bang Chan’s collaborations with artists both within and outside his group have been instrumental in his artistic evolution. Collaborations with fellow Stray Kids members Changbin and Han as part of their sub-unit 3RACHA have yielded numerous hits. Notable artists he has worked with include Hyunjin, Felix, and Lee Know from Stray Kids, and other industry artists such as Alesso, Marshmello, Halsey, Lauv, and Eric Nam.

Bang Chan and Stray Kids have been recognized globally for their music and performance. They received the prestigious Mnet Asian Music Award for Best New Male Artist in 2018. In the years since, they have garnered numerous awards including the Golden Disc Awards’ Main Prize in Album Division for their work ‘IN生’ in 2021. More recently, they won the Billboard Music Award for Top Social Artist in 2023.
