Does Martha Stewart Have Any Pets?

Martha Stewart currently has five dogs and three cats. Two French Bulldogs named Creme Brulee, Bete Noire, and Luna Moona. Two Chow Chows named Emperor Han and Empress Qin. She has two Bengal cats and one rescue cat named Blackie. Over the years, she's had around 25 dogs and 20 cats. She especially loves Chow Chows, French Bulldogs, and Himalayan cats. On her 153-acre farm in Bedford, New York, she also has horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, chinchillas, parakeets, canaries, chickens, geese, turkeys, guinea fowl, quail, pheasants, and peacocks.

Ghenghis Khan

Breed: Chow Chow | Adopted 2010

Of all of Martha Stewart’s Chow Chows, Ghenghis Khan is probably the most well-known. Known as G.C. for short, he was the great-grandson of Marth’s late Chow Chow named Paw Paw. in 2012, G.C. won “Best of Breed” at the Westminster Dog Show. His father, Maddox, also won the same “Best of Breed” award. Then G.C.’s son, Buddakan, won “Best of Breed” in 2022 (Buddakan is not Stewart’s dog). G.C. has since passed away.

Francesca and Sharkey

Breed: French bulldogs | Adopted 2009

Martha Stewart’s had two French bulldogs named Francesca and Sharkey (who was named after Kevin Sharkey, one of Stewart’s best friends). She got them both in the late 2000s and they have since passed away. They both made regular appearances on Stewart’s TV show and they even had their own blog called The Daily Wag.

Chiggi

Martha Stewart’s first cat was a rescue named Chiggi that was known for her hunting skills.

Chin Chin and Paw Paw

Breed: Chow Chow | Adopted 1995

Two of Martha Stewart’s previous Chow Chows were named Chin Chin and Paw Paw. Paw Paw (right) passed away in 2008 just before his 13th birthday. He is also the great-grandfather of Ghengis Khan.

Max and Zu Zu

Breed: Chow Chow

Stewart also had two Chow Chows named Max and Zu Zu who have since passed away.

The Canaries

Breed: Canaries

Martha Stewart has always loved canaries and has been raising them for years. They live in a cage designed after a French cage built in 1900.

Chinchillas

Martha Stewart has owned around 15 pet chinchillas. We’re not sure how many she currently has.

Vivaldi

Breed: Himalayan

Stewart had a Himalayan cat named Vivaldi that lived to be 19 years old.

Verdi

Breed: Himalayan

Stewart had another Himalayan cat named Verdi that since passed away. He’s seen on a scratching post made from a fallen tree on her farm estate.

Uncle Vanya

Martha Stewart adopted a cat named Uncle Vanya that is no longer with us.

New Kitty

When one of Martha’s neighbors moved away and couldn’t take their cat, Martha took her in. The cat was named New Kitty, apparently.

Teeny and Weeny

Martha Stewart used to have two Persian cats named teeny and weeny. Weeny is pictured here.

Max

Breed: Chow Chow

Martha had a Blue Maximilian Chow Chow named Max. Martha called “the king”.

Electra and Sirius

Martha Stewart previously had two more Persian cats named Electra and Sirius.

Empress Tang

Breed: Calico Persian | Adopted May 2009

Martha Stewart had a Persian cat named Empress Tang, sister to the late Princess Peony. Empress Tang died at 14 from old age in April 2024.

Princess Peony

Breed: Princess Peony

This cat is named Princess Peony. She had a tragic accident in April 2022 and was killed by her four dogs protecting the house. Martha Stewart says her dogs mistook her for an intruder.

The Chicks

Martha Stewart has kept many chickens over the years which she refers to as “The Chicks,” with over 200 living on her farm. Stewart’s chickens include over 20 breeds, including Araucana, Speckled Sussex, Mille Fleur Bantam, Cream Legbars, Cuckoo Marans, heritage Barred Plymouth Rock, Barnyard Frizzle mix, Frizzle Naked Neck, Blue Copper, Oliver Egger, and more. Stewart’s chickens that have reached celebrity status are her Cream Legbars, famed for their pale-blue eggs, along with her cuckoo Marans, who lay dark chocolate-colored eggs.

Dandy and Clover

Breed: Hereford Cows | Adopted 2008

Martha Stewart had two miniature Hereford cows. A boy named Dandy (pictured here) and a girl named Clover.

Empress Qin and Emperor Han

Breed: Chow Chow

Martha Stewart currently has two Chow Chows named Empress Qin and Emperor Han. They’re seen here modeling Snoop Dogg’s line of dog apparel called Snoop Doggie Doggs.

Peafowl

Breed: Peacock

Martha originally had 21 peafowl, but sadly 5 were killed by coyotes in July 2022. Peafowl are often mistakenly called peacocks, which is actually the name of instantly recognizable male peafowl. The deaths included two of her favorite peafowl, named Blue Boy and White Boy. She tweeted that her peafowl are clean, do not smell, and have an impeccable house. And that they’re loud, but fun to hear and friendly.

Geese

Breed: Pomeranian Guard Geese

Martha Stewart has both Pomeranian Guard geese and Sebastopol geese. While one breed has “guard” in the name, both breeds like to guard over the chickens.

Billie, Clive, Rufus, Jude Jr., and Truman Jr.

Martha Stewart has five Sicilian donkeys named Billie, Clive, Rufus, Jude “JJ” Junior, and Truman “TJ” Junior. Clive, Rufus, and TJ are pictured here.

Blackie

Martha Stewart adopted a cat that started hanging around her farm. He’s a hunter that lives in her greenhouse and regularly kills vermin from destroying her crops. Blackie is seen here on the shoulders of Stewart’s gardener.

Pigeons

Stewart got a flock of around 20 fancy pigeons in 2017.

Rutger, Rinze Sasa, Meindert, and Ramon

Martha Stewart has four horses. They’re named Rutger, Rinze, Sasa, Meindert, and Ramon.

Martha Stewart has two Fell Ponies named Banchunch and Bond.

Bartok

Martha had a Himalayan cat named Bartok that passed away in 2016.

Harrison Ford

Martha Stewart has a Shetland pony named Harrison Ford.

In October 2022, Martha Stewart adopted two Bengal cats. One is named Kipling (pictured here) and she hasn’t revealed the name of the other Bengal just yet. We hope to see more of these cute kittens.

Chinese Pheasants

Breed: Chinese Pheasant

In September 2024, Martha Stewart publicly revealed that Chinese Pheasants are part of her exotic farm bird collection. The Chinese Pheasant, often known as the Ring-Necked Pheasant, is a striking bird famous for its vibrant plumage and distinctive white ring around its neck. Native to Asia, with the male of the breed having vibrantly colored feathers. Though originally from China, they have been introduced worldwid.. Chinese Pheasants are known for their lively personalities, making them a popular choice for ornamental bird collections on farms and estates.
