David Duchovny Posts a Heartbreaking Poem About His Dog Who Just Passed Away

The X-Files star David Duchovny’s beloved rescue dog, Brick, has passed away. Besides, his acting, Duchovny is also an acclaimed writer and musician, which he channeled into a poem worth grabbing a tissue over.

Duchovny’s The X-Files costar Gillian Anderson was one of the first to leave condolences in the comments, “Awww Double D I’m so sorry. He was your guy. RIP Brick Duchovny.” Celebrity couple Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow joined in by saying, “I’m sorry, David. Sending you love.” and “I’m sorry.”

Brick, who is believed to be a corgi/shepherd mix, was found as a stray puppy, living under a Los Angeles freeway. The pup was rescued by Philip Steir, who was quickly contacted by a friend of Duchovny who said he wanted to adopt him ASAP.

I was exiting the freeway in Los Angeles in 2015 when I spotted a dog in the bushes. It took me half an hour to get him on a leash, and I drove this skittish but street-savvy little dog home. He was filthy, stinky, tired, hungry, but in good shape and quite handsome. I put him in my garage for the night with lots of tasty food and posted on Facebook looking for a foster or his possible parent.

Since 2015, Brick has been constantly by Duchovny’s side. And his dad made him an Instagram account at @brick_duchovny, which had over 16k followers.

Which included being his furry roadie while on tour with his dad.

In 2016, Brick and Duchovny teamed up for the “#lickmyface challenge” campaign to raise funds for Target Zero, an organization that aims to help animal shelters become “zero kill”.

Before Brick, Duchovny had a dog named Blue who passed away in 2008. Blue was a puppy of a canine actor who appeared on a 1993 episode of The X-Files.
