After our galaxy lost Carrie Fisher at the age of 60 in 2016 to a heart attack, her famed Frenchie Gary has “crossed over the rainbow bridge to be with his mom.” Gary was Fisher’s service dog, gifted to her by her daughter Billie Lourd. In the duo’s five years together, Gary was a fixture at any public events and red carpets you’d find Princess Leia.
After Fisher’s passing, her assistant, Corby McCoin, took Gary in for the following eight years. Then Gary became one with the Force alongside his iconic mom just a few weeks before his 13th birthday.
Gary’s caretaker also kept the pup’s Instagram active to keep connected with Gary and Fisher’s 147k fans.
And did you know Gary had a cameo in a casino scene in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi? And applause for Gary going method and wearing prosthetics for the part.
Then Gary even got dressed up for the premiere!
The late @carrieffisher's dog Gary just watched #TheLastJedi! He sat on Fisher's former assistant's lap during the film. She said his ears perked up every time she was on screen @starwars @ABC7 pic.twitter.com/2rCCGIi6Al
