Tuna the Chiweenie Has a Line of Merchandise, Modeling Contracts, and a Book Deal

Meet Tuna, the Chiweenie with a recessed-jaw, neck wrinkles that would make a turkey jealous and over a million Instagram followers. Tuna was found abandoned and alone on the side of the road. His rescuer brought him to a farmers market and, as fate would have it, he met Courtney Dash.

Love at first site, Courtney adopted Tuna and realized that the ugly little duckling made her life complete. She shows how wrong conventional standards of beauty can be with the many faces of Tuna. It’s hard to deny how handsome the mutt is, especially when dressed in his classic red, white and blue knit sweater.

Tuna’s inspired an entire line of merchandise ranging from $12 mugs to $26 iPhone cases. The Chihuahua Dachshund mix has starred in calendars you can buy and has his own book deal, The Underdog with the Overbite which is available for $12 on Amazon. Tuna has done tours with benefit dinners and meet & greets sponsored by BarkBox.

The pup has traveled to eight different cities raising funds and awareness for animal rescues. He has multiple TV appearances, including The Today Show and The Steve Harvey Show. He’s been featured in magazines including Darling and Glamour UK. Although Courtney Dash declines to divulge the monetary amount of Tuna’s fame, with the canines merch line, book deals and popularity, it’s not a stretch to estimate at least five figures.

The pairs travel blog – coined Traveling Tuna – showcases different pet-friendly hotels. Travel deals on hotels and services which are above and beyond accommodating to canines are rated on the pairs blog.

Tuna’s even met with other pet celebrities, forming an unlikely cross-species friendship with the likes of Lil Bub. He was also invited to show off his celeb status and walk the red carpet at the Mr. Peabody and Sherman premiere.
