Tinker Vol The Puppy with a high-chair to combat rare disease

Meet Tinker Vol, a silver lab pup living with Megaesophagus, a rare disease with a low survival rate.

Megaesophagus occurs when the esophagus is enlarged to the point where food can’t travel down to the stomach. The dog can suffer from lack of nourishment and, in some extreme cases, starvation. Often, dog owners don’t have the time or money to commit to treatment for the disease and so will have the pup euthanized. Tink’s parents, Tom and Cori Sullivan, are not those people.

The Sullivan couple feeds Tink four times a day in a specialized doggy high-chair called a “Bailey Chair”. The chair keeps the silver pup in an upright position, letting gravity help with digestion. They also give Tink helpful throat massages.

Sometimes the pup will grow out of Mega-E but until that happens Tink’s parents are happy to help the little Labrador eat.
