We love covering and interviewing animal actors here at Celebrity Pets, so we’re glad we caught a new video essay by YouTuber Alex Boucher titled “The Art of Dog Acting.” In it, he showcases canine actors and their trainers, from techniques, tricks, and safety, to dogs as artists and their history on film (and even evolution’s role). The captivating 16-minute video is sure to increase your knowledge and appreciation for all the hard work these peppers and their dedicated trainers put into so many magical on-screen moments.
Boucher touches on the cues, commands, techniques, and tricks used by trainers. For example, showing a dog a bird while the dog is not allowed to chase it, gave the dog’s face a look of desperation and longing. He touches on the importance of safety and the use of multiple dogs in the same role. He then goes into the natural emotional expressiveness of dogs and how evolution played into it. He also goes into the good and bad uses of CGI and special effects when it comes to dog acting. Check it out below and be sure to share it with any dog-loving friends.
