Sam Nivola is an American Actor best known for his role as Lochlan Ratliff in The White Lotus season 3. As the son of notable actors Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola, Sam was immersed in the arts from an early age. His family relocated to the United States during his infancy, and he grew up in Brooklyn, New York, attending Saint Ann’s School before enrolling at Columbia University.

Sam’s acting career began in 2013 with a role in the Sky Atlantic comedy series “Doll & Em,” which starred his mother. He continued to build his portfolio, appearing alongside his younger sister, May Nivola, in the BBC One miniseries “The Pursuit of Love” in 2021. That same year, he showcased his versatility by writing and directing “Neighborhood Watch,” a short film included in the anthology “With/In,” reflecting on life during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A significant breakthrough came in 2022 when Sam portrayed Heinrich in Noah Baumbach’s film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel “White Noise.” Sharing the screen with notable actors such as Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig, Sam’s performance garnered attention and showcased his ability to handle complex roles.

In 2023, Sam continued his cinematic journey by playing Alexander Bernstein, the son of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, in Bradley Cooper’s biographical film “Maestro.” He also appeared in “Eileen,” a film adaptation of Ottessa Moshfegh’s acclaimed novel, further demonstrating his range as an actor.

The year 2024 marked Sam’s entry into television with a role in the Netflix miniseries “The Perfect Couple,” where he starred alongside industry veterans Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber. In this satirical whodunnit, Sam portrayed Will Winbury, the youngest son of a wealthy family entangled in a murder mystery during a wedding celebration.
