Pavel Durov
Pavel Durov is a Russian entrepreneur, best known as the founder of the social networking site VKontakte (VK) and the Telegram Messenger.
Durov’s career began with the creation of VK in 2006, Russia’s largest social network, which he developed while studying at Saint Petersburg State University. Under his leadership, VK became the most popular social networking platform in Russia and neighboring countries. In 2013, Durov left VK due to disagreements with shareholders over the control and direction of the company. That same year, he launched Telegram Messenger, focusing on secure and encrypted communication.
Throughout his career, Durov has collaborated with numerous individuals who have contributed to his projects’ success. Notably, his brother Nikolai Durov, a mathematician and programmer, played a crucial role in developing VK’s technical infrastructure and Telegram’s encryption algorithms.
