Patty Jenkins
Patty Jenkins is an American film director and screenwriter, recognized for directing “Monster” (2003), “Wonder Woman” (2017), and “Wonder Woman 1984” (2020). She made history with “Wonder Woman” as the first woman to direct a film with a budget exceeding $100 million.
Her debut, “Monster,” resulted in an Academy Award for Charlize Theron. Jenkins has also directed episodes for television series such as “Arrested Development” and “Entourage,” and the pilot for “The Killing,” earning a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. Her work in the superhero genre with “Wonder Woman” and its sequel contributed significantly to the DC Extended Universe.
Jenkins’s notable collaborations include working with Gal Gadot in the “Wonder Woman” series, which showcased Gal Gadot in the leading role. The partnership with Charlize Theron in “Monster” was a critical factor in Theron’s Oscar win. Her direction of “The Killing” involved collaboration with writer Veena Sud. Chris Pine‘s roles in the “Wonder Woman” series were a result of his collaboration with Jenkins, adding depth to the films. She also collaborated with composers Hans Zimmer on “Wonder Woman 1984” and Rupert Gregson-Williams on “Wonder Woman,” enhancing the films with their scores. Further collaborations include working with cinematographer Matthew Jensen and screenwriter Allan Heinberg on “Wonder Woman.”
