Kristen Schaal is an American comedian actress, and writer born on January 24, 1978. She’s best known for her voice-acting roles in various animated series and films, including Bob’s Burgers, Gravity Falls, and BoJack Horseman with Will Arnett. She’s also known for her role on the TV series Flight of the Conchords (2007-2009) with Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie. Most recently, she co-starred in the TV series The Last Man on Earth (2015-2018) with Will Forte.

One of her most impactful partnerships was with Jon Stewart, with whom she regularly teamed up on The Daily Show from 2008-2016. Playing an eccentric Senior Women’s Issues Correspondent, Schaal delivered satirical commentary that was equal parts hilarious and thought-provoking. Another pivotal collaboration was with H. Jon Benjamin on the long-running animated series Bob’s Burgers, where Schaal’s voice work as Louise Belcher, beginning in 2011, has drawn critical acclaim. Brendan Small also worked with Schaal on his cult-classic series Home Movies back in 2004, where she voiced multiple characters, displaying her range and comedic timing.

Schaal’s comedic prowess extended into her fruitful partnership with Tina Fey in 30 Rock, where she portrayed Hazel Wassername, an eccentric NBC page, from 2012-2013. Fey’s genius mixed with Schaal’s comic sensibilities led to some memorable episodes of the iconic series. Moreover, in 2009, Schaal collaborated with fellow comedian and friend Kurt Braunohler on Hot Tub with Kurt & Kristen, a weekly variety show that showcased her remarkable ability to combine humor and storytelling. Most notably, Schaal’s long-standing partnership with Loren Bouchard, through Bob’s Burgers and the recently released Central Park in 2020. In this venture, she shared the stage with stars such as Josh Gad and Stanley Tucci.

She won the Best Female Standup award at the 2006 US Comedy Arts Festival, a testament to her sharp wit and original material. Her performance in Bob’s Burgers earned her an Annie Award in 2017 for Outstanding Achievement in Voice Acting in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production. In 2013, she was honored with the BTVA Voice Acting Award for Best Female Vocal Performance in Television – Comedy/Musical for Gravity Falls, a testament to her unique and vibrant voice acting capabilities. In the same year, her work on 30 Rock with Tina Fey brought her a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Furthermore, her remarkable performance in The Last Man on Earth from 2015 to 2018 garnered her a Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2015.
