Klaus Iohannis' Pets

Klaus Iohannis is a Romanian politician, physicist and former teacher who has been serving as the President of Romania since 2014. Born in 1959, he was initially elected in 2014 and then re-elected by an overwhelming majority in 2019. Before entering politics, Iohannis had a successful career teaching physics to pre-university students. He also served as mayor of Sibiu from 2000 to 2013. During his tenure, he transformed the city into one of Romania’s most popular tourist destinations and it was chosen to be the European Capital of Culture 2007. A conservative politician with roots in Germany’s minority population living within Romania’s borders, Iohannis is considered a symbol for ethnic minorities across Europe.
