Gil Kenan
Gil Kenan is a British-American filmmaker and animator known for directing “Monster House” and the 2015 remake of “Poltergeist.” He earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature for his work on “Monster House.” Kenan has contributed as a screenwriter to several of his projects, including the screenplay for “Monster House.”
Kenan’s directorial debut came with “Monster House” in 2006, which used motion capture technology. He then directed “City of Ember” in 2008, a film adaptation of Jeanne DuPrau’s novel. His directorial portfolio expanded with the 2015 remake of “Poltergeist.”
Kenan’s professional collaborations include work with executive producers Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis on “Monster House.” He also partnered with producer Tom Hanks for “City of Ember.” In his films, Kenan directed Mitchel Musso, Sam Lerner, and Spencer Locke in “Monster House,” and Saoirse Ronan and Harry Treadaway in “City of Ember.”
