Coolio
Artis Leon Ivey Jr., better known as Coolio, was an American rapper, music producer, and actor who lived from August 1, 1963, until September 28, 2022. He’s most well known for his hit single “Gangsta’s Paradise” (1995), which is considered one of the most successful rap songs of all time, setting multiple sales records and winning multiple awards, including the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance. “Gansta’s Paradise” was featured on the soundtrack to the 1995 film Dangerous Minds, starring Michelle Pfeiffer. The song is also known for its parody “Amish Paradise” (1996) by Weird Al. He’s also known for the hit songs “Fantastic Voyage” (1994), “1, 2, 3, 4, (Sumpin’ New)” (1996), and “C U When U Get There” (1997). Coolio passed away on September 28, 2022, with his manager saying that it appeared he had a heart attack.
