Chris Sharma
Chris Sharma is an American rock climber recognized for his significant contributions to the sport, particularly in sport climbing and bouldering. He is known for ascending numerous routes with the highest difficulty ratings and has been influential in the climbing community since the late 1990s.
Sharma’s climbing career is highlighted by his ascents of some of the world’s most challenging routes. He achieved fame with the first ascent of “Necessary Evil” in the Virgin River Gorge, a route graded 5.14c, marking a milestone in North American climbing. Another notable achievement is his ascent of “Realization” (or “Biographie”) in Céüse, France, one of the first routes globally to be graded 5.15a. In bouldering, Sharma’s accomplishments include pioneering ascents like “The Mandala” and “Witness the Fitness.”
Collaboration has been a key aspect of Sharma’s career. He has worked alongside fellow climbers such as Adam Ondra, Tommy Caldwell, and Alex Honnold.
