Lexi and her 6 fur siblings were surrendered to the animal shelter in Hay River, a small town in the North West Territories of Canada. Lexi was the crazy one of the bunch, which resulted in her being the only one of her litter that wasn’t adopted.
She was surrendered with a litter of seven puppies and so we took them all in. All the other puppies got adopted out fairly quick – and Lexi was still with us for about a month or so. We actually thought she was going to be kind-of difficult to adopt out because she was a bit of a hyper puppy and had the terrier in her.

In 2018, when Lexi was around four months old, the shelter was contacted by Steve and Darcy Woodley. With the Woodleys being animal actor trainers, the shelter thought they’d be a good fit for Lexi’s energy level. They were looking up North for an Alaskan Malamute to adopt, but after seeing Lexi’s expressive face, they knew she was perfect.
She is absolutely a number-one Hallmark dog, a family dog. She just had the cutest look, with one ear up and one ear down. She’s very, very sharp. And she’ll trick you. She knows what you want her to do almost from the very get-go, but sometimes she’ll just challenge you and be like, ‘You know what, I really don’t feel like doing it today … maybe I’m just going to lay down and look really cute.’

Two years after she was adopted, Lexi already appeared in two episodes of Supernatural, acting alongside Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. She then went on to star in the Hallmark movies If I only Had Christmas and Millionaire Matchmaker. Just look at her jump up on the bed for cuddles like a true professional actor!
