Potato the Bunny is an adored TikTok influencer and parent at Sinclair Rabbitry in Ontario, Canada. His busy days are filled with making baby bunnies and looking extremely cute on TikTok. Until one day his human Anna came home and couldn’t find him. Potato is a confident bunny and never hides, so not immediately seeing him was cause for alarm. Then it dawned on her that Potato was gone…
Anna checked her security cameras and saw two intruders trespassing and stealing Potato! She then posted a plea for Potato’s return on TikTok, which went viral, ending it with “I’m not sure if you meant to take the bunny posted on my website, but you took the wrong bunny. This bunny is my everything. I grew him up since he was a baby and gained a strong bond with him,”
Then the Hamilton Spectator broke the good news: After four days, Potato the Bunny was returned home safely! Potato arrived at Anna’s front door with a man, claiming to be one of the thieves’ dad. He said his daughter had seen her plea on TikTok (and that she would drop the police report) and decided to return Potato. “He was really, really nice. Super apologetic. He just felt bad for me and said it wasn’t like his daughter to do that,” Anna said of the bunnynapper’s dad. The police are still probing what motivated the theft, such as if they just wanted to steal a bunny or they targeted the celebrity rabbit specifically.
