Active in the music industry since 2009, Mensa’s early career began with his involvement in the group Kids These Days, which disbanded in May 2013. Following this, Mensa ventured into his solo career, releasing his debut mixtape, Innanetape. He is currently signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, among other music labels, and is also known by his other stage name, Vino.

A significant part of Mensa’s musical career is marked by his albums and collaborations. Mensa’s music extends across genres, with a particular focus on hip hop and punk rap. His debut single “Down on My Luck,” released in June 2014, paved the way for his burgeoning solo career.

In addition to his solo work, Mensa has been a part of multiple collaborative ventures. He is a founder of the hip-hop collective Savemoney, which includes fellow Chicago-based artist, Chance the Rapper. He has been nominated for prestigious awards, including the Image Awards (NAACP) in 2018 as an Outstanding New Artist and the Grammy Awards in 2016 for Best Rap Song for “All Day,” shared with songwriters Ernest Brown, Rennard East, and Allan Kingdom.
