Tarja Turunen
Tarja Soile Susanna Turunen-Cabuli, known professionally as Tarja Turunen, is a Finnish heavy metal singer and songwriter. She co-founded the symphonic metal band Nightwish in 1996 and served as the lead vocalist until 2005. During her tenure, the band released commercially successful albums such as “Oceanborn” (1998), “Wishmaster” (2000), and “Century Child” (2002). Following her departure from Nightwish, Turunen launched a solo career with albums including “My Winter Storm” (2007) and “What Lies Beneath” (2010).
In addition to collaborations mentioned earlier with artists like Doro Pesch and members of Scorpions, Turunen has also collaborated with Mike Oldfield on the song “Never Too Far” and with the Finnish rock band Raskasta Joulua, which performs heavy metal versions of Christmas songs. She performed with Joe Lynn Turner and Tony Kakko in various live shows and recording projects.
