Emiliano Martínez
Emiliano Martínez is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Aston Villa and the Argentina national team. He began his career in the youth ranks of Racing Club before moving to Spain to join Real Madrid’s youth academy. He later joined Arsenal, where he spent several years playing for the club’s youth and reserve teams before becoming the club’s third-choice goalkeeper.
Martínez made his professional debut for Arsenal in 2012 in a League Cup match against Coventry City and went on to make several appearances for the club in various competitions over the next few years. He joined Reading on loan in 2014 and later joined Getafe on loan in 2016.
In 2018, Martínez rejoined Arsenal and became their first-choice goalkeeper following an injury to Bernd Leno. He played a crucial role in Arsenal’s FA Cup victory in 2020 and was named the tournament’s best goalkeeper. He was soon signed by Aston Villa for £20 million in September 2020 and has been the first choice goalkeeper for Aston Villa .
Martínez has also represented the Argentina national team at various levels, including the under-20 and under-23 teams. He made his senior international debut in 2019 and continues to be a regular member of the team.
