David Soren
David Soren is a Canadian director, writer, voice actor, and storyboard artist, best known for his work at DreamWorks Animation. His most notable projects include directing the animated feature films “Turbo” and “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie,” as well as creating TV specials based on the Madagascar film franchise, such as “Merry Madagascar” and “Madly Madagascar.” Soren’s career began after graduating from Sheridan College, where his student project, “Mr. Lucky,” garnered significant acclaim and was accepted into competition for the 1997 Academy Award.
Soren’s journey at DreamWorks Animation saw him contribute as a story artist on films like “Chicken Run,” “Shrek,” and “Over the Hedge.” He also served as the head of story on “Shark Tale.” His directorial debut came with the TV Christmas special “Merry Madagascar” in 2009, followed by “Madly Madagascar” in 2013. Soren made his feature directorial debut with “Turbo” in 2013, a film based on his original concept, which won him an Annie Award for Directing in a Feature Production. He also served as a creative consultant on the television series “Turbo Fast,” based on the film. Soren’s voice acting roles, including voicing the character Jimbo in “The Boss Baby” and its sequel, “The Boss Baby: Family Business,” further showcase his diverse talents in the animation field.
Throughout his career, Soren has collaborated with several key figures in the animation industry.
