Son Chae-young, professionally known as Chaeyoung, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and artist recognized for her vital contribution to the global success of the K-pop group Twice.

Chaeyoung’s career took off after she joined Twice, a nine-member K-pop group formed by JYP Entertainment through the reality TV competition, Sixteen, in 2015. Her contributions to the group’s discography, both as a vocalist and a lyricist, have been instrumental in its success. Notably, her lyric-writing talent shone in tracks like “Sweet Summer Day” and “Eye Eye Eyes,” where her distinctive style added depth to the group’s musical variety. Her prowess extends beyond the realm of music, with her showing exceptional talent in the group’s reality series “Twice TV,” “Twice’s Elegant Private Life,” and “Twice’s Lost Time.”

Over the years, Chaeyoung’s collaborations with industry colleagues have garnered considerable attention. Her duet with fellow Twice member Dahyun, “Switch to Me,” redefined the duo’s musical chemistry, while her joint efforts with JYP founder Park Jin-young have been applauded by critics and fans alike. Other notable collaborations include works with songwriters and producers such as Black Eyed Pilseung, earattack, and Collapsedone. Her participation in the KBS Song Festival, alongside artists like RM of BTS, Chen of EXO, and Wendy of Red Velvet, solidified her standing within the industry. Collaborations with global stars like Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers, Luis Fonsi, and Camila Cabello at music festivals have also illustrated her global appeal.

Chaeyoung’s talent and dedication have earned her a multitude of prestigious awards and recognitions. Twice, with Chaeyoung’s substantial contributions, has won Song of the Year at the Mnet Asian Music Awards thrice – in 2016, 2017, and 2018 – a testimony to their unceasing popularity. Their album “Twicetagram” was honored with the Best Selling Album of the Year award at the 2018 Golden Disk Awards, exemplifying the group’s commercial success. Notably, Chaeyoung’s individual efforts were recognized when she was awarded the Style Icon Asia (SIA) New K-Wave Icon Award in 2020.
