Alex Horne
Alex Horne is a British comedian, writer, and musician. He is the creator of the BAFTA award-winning TV series “Taskmaster,” where he serves as the assistant to the Taskmaster, Greg Davies. Horne is also the host and bandleader of the comedic band The Horne Section, with appearances on BBC Radio 4, TV channel Dave, and “8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.”
Horne’s career in entertainment began with his first appearance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2000. His show “Making Fish Laugh” in 2003 was nominated for a Perrier Award for Best Newcomer, and he won a Chortle Award for Best Breakthrough Act in 2004. Horne’s unique approach to comedy often involves integrating technology, as seen in his shows “Every Body Talks” and “When in Rome,” where he used Microsoft PowerPoint for presentation. His solo performances, such as “Birdwatching” at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival and “Wordwatching” in 2008, further showcase his innovative style.
Horne’s collaborations have been a significant part of his career. He has worked closely with Tim Key and Mark Watson, creating the YouTube series “No More Jockeys” during the 2020 coronavirus lockdown. His band, The Horne Section, features professional musicians, including childhood friends, and has performed at the Edinburgh Festival and toured the UK. The band’s radio series, “Alex Horne Presents The Horne Section,” ran for three series on BBC Radio 4. Horne’s involvement in “Taskmaster” has led to international adaptations of the show.
“Taskmaster” has received a BAFTA award, solidifying its status as a successful and innovative show.
