Katherine Heigl Surprises Fans by Adopting Three Rescue Puppies

Katherine Heigl has become as famous for her animal advocacy as she is for her iconic role as Dr. Izzie Stevens in Grey’s Anatomy — From consistently having a pack of rescue pups at home, living on a ranch filled with rescued farm animals, to launching the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, which has raised almost half a million to help dogs in need.

Now she’s launched a large expansion to her own fur family — By adopting not one, not two, but three adorable rescue puppies! She introduced the sweet little bundles of joy in an Instagram video.

Apparently, one of the pups was originally meant to go to Katherine’s mother, but in a move that many of us can relate to, she admitted she might have a hard time letting go. These fluffy, curly-haired pups, who we’d guess are poodle mixes, have already been given some seriously charming names, including one celebrity: Liam Neeson (the tough black and white one), Clara Rose (after her mother’s aunt), and possibly Maeve Myrtle for the other black pup.

It’s wonderful to see someone with such a platform championing rescue animals. And it’s no secret that Katherine is deeply committed to the cause. She even has her own dog food brand, Badlands Ranch, which focuses on wholesome ingredients. Plus, proceeds from the brand support the Jason Heigl Foundation, which she founded with her mother to help pets through education, adoption, and health programs. Stories like this are a fantastic reminder of the many wonderful animals out there just waiting for a loving home. And by adding a trio of rescues to her pack, here’s hoping it inspires some of her 5 million Instagram followers to adopt at least one!
