When you think of trading cards, you probably think of professional athletes like baseball and hockey players – But they’re always humans. Or you might think of Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh! – But sorry to break it to you, they’re fictional animals. So now you’re probably realizing, “Where are the cards celebrating our canine champions?”
Well, today’s the day, thanks to trading card company Topps linking up with the Westminster Kennel Club. With a limited edition set named “Stars of the Show,” past and present winners of the Westminster Dog Show will now grace their very own trading cards.
Westminster Kennel Club was established in 1877, and has, for more than a century, held a significant place in American culture and history. So what better way for Topps to celebrate this union than to showcase the amazing dogs of Westminster in our beloved vintage product, Topps Allen & Ginter!

Topps has a tradition of releasing ultra-rare “relic” cards that include a small authentic piece of memorabilia. For example, a piece of fabric from a game-worn jersey or a piece of wood from a used baseball bat. For “Stars of the Show” relic cards will include authentic pieces of the winning dog’s “Best in Show” ribbon. They’re also releasing seven one-of-a-kind cards that will include the dog handler’s purple winners lapel (the complete lapel, not just a piece.)
