Actress Amanda Seyfried is very active in the world of animal advocacy, from adopting pets and farm animals herself to promoting and fundraising for animal shelters and charities. And on personally rescuing animals, she was proud to say, “I’ve been able to do it. I have the means to do it. So I love it.”
One such group she often helps is Best Friends Animal Society, which hosted the “Benefit to Save Them All” fundraiser last month in NYC, where Seyfried and Justin Theroux (and his rescue pitty, Kuma) were among the celebrity hosts that night. And don’t miss when Justin Theroux was recently interviewed on The Today Show (where Kuma completely stole the show)
While at the event, US Magazine spoke with Seyfried about rescuing animals. She talked highly about the rescue organization and said, “Animals are innocent and pure and peaceful and beautiful. I can’t imagine life without animals,” and “Every creature deserves some semblance of a happy life and a safe life.
She then went on to share how she always wanted a farm. And how the farm led to her habit of rescuing farm animals, “I grew up in a postage stamp backyard in suburban Pennsylvania. I always wanted space. So when I was in my early twenties, I went to look for it, and the space I got, the property had horses on it, so I inherited those horses. And then from then on, I just started growing with goats and everybody [sic] that I wanted was available to me.”
Seyfried then went on to disclose how she has a reputation in her neighborhood for rescuing injured or abandoned animals: “I’m locally known as somebody who will take an emergency situation and adopt an animal in need. It’s been great. And honestly, I’ve been able to do it. I have the means to do it. So I love it.”
While many animals and humans are very grateful for all her help, Amanda Seyfried also thanks animals for the love they give back to her. Such as sharing how her 15-year-old rescue dog Finn has been vital to her life and career.
