Flamingo On The Run For 13 Years, Narrowly Escapes Authorities Once Again
A flamingo was spotted in the wild in South Texas by Ben Shepard, an intern with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Quickly ID’d as notorious fugitive Flamingo No. 492 who authorities report has been on the lam for thirteen long years. In 2005, forty flamingos travelled from Tanzania to the Wichita County Zoo in Kansas.

Protected killdeer bird nest holds up major music festival
A killdeer bird, known for its distinctive “kill deer” cry, is holding up a major music festival in Canada. While not endangered, the killdeer is a protected species, with a new mother killdeer and her nest discovered directly where the main stage will go for Bluesfest in Ottawa, one of Canada’s biggest music festivals. Unlike what we expect of most birds, Killdeer spend a lot of their time on the ground, where they also build their nests, instead of in trees.

Dog Adopts Nine Duckling Orphans
Fred, a 10-year-old yellow Labrador, has become an adoptive father to nine abandoned ducklings in Essex, England. The ducklings were found wandering about the Mountfitchet Castle grounds in Stansted with no mother duck in sight.
