Does Steve Coogan Have Any Pets?

Steve Coogan has one dog named Dougal. Alan Partridge did have a big brown Mastiff named Seldom (RIP). He also almost adopted a robot dog named Unit 1.

Dougal

Breed: Labradoodle | Adopted 2016

Steve Coogan has a dog named Dougal that’s a Labradoodle. Dougal was a gift from actress Daisy Lewis in 2016, who he was dating at the time.

Seldom Patridge

Breed: Mastiff | Adopted 2007

Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge had a dog named Seldom. The fictional Mastiff lived from 2007 until 2022. The name comes from the expression “A barking dog seldom bites”. Seldom was known for his love of sandwiches, like his fur day Partridge. When asked by The Irish Times, Partridge said “Less than 0.1 per cent of mastiffs attack,” says Partridge as we sidle past the animal. “Unfortunately, Seldom’s the whole of that 0.1 per cent. The kindest thing I can say is that he’s a statistical anomaly.”

Unit 1

Breed: Robot | Adopted 2021

In a BBC News segment, Alan Partridge considered adopting a robot dog named Unit 1 to help overcome his fear of robots. After a weekend together, he decided against it, saying “I just didn’t like sharing my house with something intelligent”
