Rema
Rema is a prominent Nigerian musician recognized for his eclectic blend of afrobeats, trap, and indie sounds. Beginning his music career at a young age, Rema has since then firmly established himself as one of the notable figures in the Nigerian music scene, capturing audiences worldwide.
Emerging onto the music scene with the hit single “Iron Man,” which even caught the attention of former U.S. President Barack Obama, Rema quickly followed this success with a string of hit tracks and EPs. His debut self-titled EP, Rema, gave fans an enticing glimpse into his versatility, with songs ranging from the catchy “Dumebi” to the introspective “Corny.” Further establishing his prowess, he released subsequent projects like Rema Freestyle EP and Bad Commando, each solidifying his place in the music industry. In 2022 he dropped his debut studio album, Rave and Roses.
Rema’s notable collaborations include the song “One Shirt” with Ruger and D’Prince, and “Dimension” where he teamed up with JAE5 and Skepta. Collaborating beyond the Nigerian borders, he’s worked with artists such as Major Lazer in “Dumebi (Remix),” Becky G in “Dumebi Remix,” and Rvssian in “Beamer.” Such collaborations indicate the vast range of artists Rema has connected with, each bringing a distinct flavor to the music.
In terms of recognition, Rema won the Headies Award for Next Rated Artist in 2019 and he clinched the Soundcity MVP for Best New Artist in the same year. Outside Nigeria, his global appeal was underlined when he received a nomination for Best African Act at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards.
