Lia (Choi Ji-su)
Choi Ji-su, known by her stage name Lia, is a South Korean singer best known for her role as a lead vocalist in the girl group ITZY under JYP Entertainment. Her musical journey kicked off with ITZY’s debut album “It’z Different” in 2019, featuring the hit single “DALLA DALLA.” The group has since released multiple albums such as “IT’z ME” and “Not Shy,” each contributing to the global popularity of K-pop. ITZY’s music tends to revolve around themes of self-love and empowerment, with Lia often contributing her vocal prowess to these messages.
Working with artists in her own sphere and beyond, Lia has demonstrated an impressive knack for collaboration. Among these are artists like Park Jin-young, founder of JYP Entertainment; Bang Chan, Lee Know, and Han from Stray Kids; JB and Yugyeom from GOT7; and Nayeon, Jihyo, and Sana from TWICE. Her collaborations have not just been limited to her label mates. She’s also worked closely with prominent industry professionals like songwriters and producers Melanie Joy Fontana and Michel “Lindgren” Schulz, as well as photographers like Kim Hee-june.
Over the years, Lia has been recognized with various titles and honors that reflect her contributions to the world of music. Among these are winning the New Artist of the Year award with ITZY at the 34th Golden Disc Awards, and the group’s triumph in the category of Female Rookie Idol of the Year at the 2019 Brand of the Year Awards. She’s also made her mark internationally, as ITZY was awarded the Best New Female Artist at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards.
