Freddie Freeman is a Canadian-American professional baseball player who serves as first baseman with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the MLB. He is best known for his consistent offensive performance and leadership on the field, highlighted by his pivotal contribution to the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series victory, where he delivered a historic walk-off grand slam in Game 1.

Freeman began his MLB career with the Atlanta Braves in 2010, where he played for 12 seasons. During his tenure with the Braves, he was instrumental in their 2021 World Series win over the Houston Astros. In 2022, Freeman signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers. His time with the Dodgers has been marked by remarkable achievements, including setting World Series records in 2024 by hitting home runs in the first four games and matching the record for 12 RBIs in a single Series.

Throughout his career, Freeman has collaborated with numerous notable figures in the baseball community. He shared the field with Chipper Jones during his early years with the Braves, benefiting from Jones’s mentorship. As a teammate of Ronald Acuña Jr., Freeman contributed to the Braves’ dynamic offense. His move to the Dodgers brought him alongside Mookie Betts, forming a formidable lineup. Freeman has also played under the management of Brian Snitker with the Braves and Dave Roberts with the Dodgers, both of whom have praised his leadership and performance.

Freeman’s accolades include being named the National League (NL) Most Valuable Player in 2020. He has been selected to multiple All-Star Games and has received several Silver Slugger Awards, recognizing his offensive excellence. His defensive skills have earned him Gold Glove Awards, highlighting his all-around contributions to the game.

Beyond his on-field achievements, Freeman is actively involved in animal advocacy. In December 2018, he and his wife visited the Best Friends Animal Society pet shelter in Cobb County, Georgia, as part of the Braves’ Season of Giving campaign. During this visit, they assisted in cleaning the shelter and spent time with the animals, demonstrating their commitment to animal welfare (and Freeman’s love for kitties)
