Pugs love food – it’s a fact. But no one, canine and human alike, love it as much as Doug the Pug. Doug is a donut-chasing full-time pizza fanatic and the internet loves it. He has over 2.5 million Instagram followers (more than three times the Royal Family), +500k on Twitter, and +5 million likes on Facebook. Doug’s mom, Leslie Mosier, has built an impressive franchise on her pug’s brand. Quitting her dream job and running his social media fulltime may have seemed like an insane decision at the time but it’s clearly paid off – Doug’s estimated net worth is $500,000.
Doug’s got celebrity friends and fans; he’s hung out with the likes of Chrissy Teigen, Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran. Praise Dog, this pug’s been in a Chainsmokers sandwich! We’re not sure who’s the bigger teenage heartthrob, Doug or two of the finest DJs in EDM, Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. Who would you rather? Help us decide, comment below.
Mom, Leslie Mosier, is a graphic designer by trade. She quit her job at a record label in order to develop Doug’s once in a lifetime brand. Mosier used her talents in marketing, design and social media to create the brand behind the pug. She was savvy with her strategy; Doug’s grassroots marketing campaign is a model that any aspiring pet-celeb owner should look closely at. Along with her partner, she was able to purchase a house in Nashville, Tennessee off of Doug’s profits; they call it, The House That Doug Built.
As famous as a pug can get, Doug does guest appearances at events, including the music festivals Lollapalooza and the Billboard Hot 100. He was found rockin’ a pair of dope gold ear muffs and hanging out side stage with his entourage.
If you can’t get enough of Doug online, his mom’s got you covered. You can buy any of his many works online. Doug the Pug: King of Pop Culture just became available on iTunes and, for you creative pug fans, he has a colouring book: Doug the Pug: The Colouring and Activity Book available for purchase.
Doug also has more plush toys, calendars and mugs than you can shake a stick at. Get a shirt with his face plastered on it. Get ten. Get one for you Babushka’s 99th birthday, your nephew’s Bar Mitzvah, your stepmom’s sixth face-lift. They’re great for any occasion, really.
Doug’s done a number of appearances, like the time he was on Good Morning America. Even though he loves the camera he is not a morning mutt.
You can find this squishy faced lump watching his fav TV show, the Real Housewives of New York or howling at his best friend, the Pizza Delivery Man.
We’ll end this segment of The Most Popular Dogs on Instagram, with Doug’s first viral video.
