Aoife Cusack, known professionally as Lyra Valkyria, is an Irish professional wrestler currently signed with WWE, where she performs on the NXT brand. Valkyria is recognized for her accomplishment as a one-time NXT Women’s Champion. Before her tenure with WWE, she made her professional wrestling debut on 2 May 2015 and gained prominence under various ring names, including Valkyrie Cain, influenced by the Skulduggery Pleasant book series.

Valkyria’s early wrestling career, starting in 2015, saw her competing in the independent circuit, where she adopted the ring name Valkyrie Cain. Her WWE career began in earnest when she signed with the company in January 2020 and debuted on NXT UK shortly thereafter, marking a series of victories against competitors such as Amale, Isla Dawn, and Nina Samuels. Her successful matches showcased her wrestling prowess, leading to her first tour with WWE’s US-based NXT brand in February 2020. Valkyria’s transition to NXT in the United States was highlighted by her debut victory over Amari Miller in December 2022, followed by significant matches leading to her NXT Women’s Championship victory at Halloween Havoc.

Throughout her career, Valkyria has collaborated with several notable wrestlers, including Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch, which significantly enhanced her profile within WWE. Her rivalry with Meiko Satomura in NXT UK and subsequent feuds with competitors like Ivy Nile, Cora Jade, and Tiffany Stratton in NXT have been pivotal in her wrestling development. These interactions, particularly her championship matches against Roxanne Perez and her storyline with Tatum Paxley, have underscored her adaptability and resilience in the ring. Her defense of the NXT Women’s Championship against formidable opponents like Xia Li and Blair Davenport, along with her participation in tag team challenges alongside Paxley against The Kabuki Warriors, further demonstrates the depth of her in-ring capabilities and her contribution to the women’s division in professional wrestling.
