Rachel Bolan is an American musician and songwriter best known as the bassist and primary lyricist for the rock band Skid Row. Since co-founding the band in 1986, Bolan has contributed to several multi-platinum albums, including Skid Row (1989) and Slave to the Grind (1991), the latter being the first heavy metal album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

Bolan collaborated with vocalist Sebastian Bach on iconic tracks like “18 and Life” and “Youth Gone Wild,” which became defining hits for Skid Row. He co-wrote “Monkey Business” with guitarist Dave “The Snake” Sabo, showcasing the band’s distinctive hard rock sound. Bolan performed alongside Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora during Skid Row’s early tours, helping the band gain international attention. He contributed to the band’s successful transition to heavier material on albums such as Subhuman Race (1995). Bolan has also worked with other artists, including Ace Frehley of KISS, on various musical projects. Outside of Skid Row, Bolan has produced and recorded with alternative and punk bands.
