If you’ve made it here, then you know nothing puts a bigger smile on our faces than an adorable animal doing what they do best. Puppies do the darndest things and we have them all here.

The power of a room full of puppies had it’s effect on Liev Schreiber last week. The British-born Australian actor unexpectedly walked away from an interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan with two new family members. Sitting backstage at the ABC show, Schreiber realized he was in a situation that most of us dream about: a room full of adorable puppies, just waiting to be adopted.

Matilda’s no ordinary tabby cat. Rescued as a kitten with a clean bill of health, her family quickly discovered that she was unlike other cats in a big way… Matilda’s eyes contained tiny galaxies. While the stars in her eyes were initially harmless, things began to change for the little cat.

We all know cats can be grumpy little furballs. We also know they usually hate water. This one ginger cat channelled his grumpiness into pure determination to survive and faced a swim in the floodwaters of Hurricane Harvey.

Move over Ninja Turtles, Hero Rats are here to save the world one landmine at a time. APOPO is a non-governmental organisation committed to making the world a better place. They train African giant pouched rats (affectionately called Hero Rats) to detect landmines and tuberculosis; their mission is “to develop detection rats technology to provide solutions for global problems and inspire social change.” So, basically they’re a superhero squad with giant rats.

Now in its 12th year, the World Dog Surfing Championship still holds the title for cutest extreme sports championship. Over a thousand dog and surf lovers came to watch dozens of dogs compete. Taking place in a different surf spot each year, Starting in San Diego and in Pacifica, California this year.

With Hurricane Harvey still devastating Texas, it’s nice to hear stories the stories of heroes and survivors of this terrible tropical storm. One such story is of a Houston cab driver and his new feathered BFF, now nicknamed Harvey the Hawk. The cabbie William Bruso was grabbing supplies when the hurricane was rolling in last Friday and when he returned he found a new passenger waiting for a ride.

What has big blue eyes, hops like a kangaroo, and will melt your heart? Lil Bunny Sue Roux! She’s a Siamese-mix cat who was born with only two legs, a tiny bobtail and a talent for causing smiles.

It’s impawsible not to smile at Super Scooty. She’s a mixed breed handicapable pup with some very real beginnings. But don’t be fooled by the goofy grin, behind her happy demeanour is a girl who’s tough as nails.

Humans aren’t the only ones who use service dogs; these wild cats are paired up with happy-go-lucky labradors and retrievers to ease their anxiety. Some thirty odd years ago, a zoo in San Diego decided to pair their cheetahs with support pups to encourage them to relax. The first ever pair was Arusha, a male cheetah, and Anna, a female golden retriever, in 1980.
