Jake Johnson is an American actor, comedian, and writer best known for his role as Nick Miller in the Fox sitcom New Girl (2011–2018), for which he was nominated for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series in 2018, and as Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man in the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), a role he will reprise in its sequel (2022).

Johnson’s body of work extends from the small screen to the silver screen, showcasing his talent for bringing unique, complex characters to life. While “New Girl” launched him into the mainstream, his role as Peter B. Parker in the animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” also garnered significant attention. He also starred in Let’s Be Cops (2014), and appeared in Paper Heart (2009), Get Him to the Greek (2010), Safety Not Guaranteed (2012), 21 Jump Street (2012), Drinking Buddies (2013), Jurassic World (2015), The Mummy (2017), and Tag (2018). He co-starred as Greyson “Grey” McConnell in the ABC drama series Stumptown (2019–2020).

Working across genres and platforms has led Johnson to collaborate with an array of creative individuals in the entertainment industry. He’s shared the screen with Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, and Lamorne Morris in “New Girl,” voiced alongside Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld in “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and worked with Olivia Wilde and Anna Kendrick in “Drinking Buddies.” His collaborations extend to directors as well, such as Colin Trevorrow in “Safety Not Guaranteed” and Joe Swanberg in multiple projects. His career has also intersected with comedians like Damon Wayans Jr. in “Let’s Be Cops,” and Adam Scott in “Tag.”

Johnson’s performance in “New Girl” earned him a Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. While he didn’t take home the trophy, the nomination itself was a testament to his skill in comedic roles. Similarly, his contribution to “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” was part of the ensemble that won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, highlighting the impact of his voice acting.
